Electrical Apprentice

Apprentices fulfill an important role in the success of the company. Apprentices work under the direction and supervision of a Lead Generator Installer or Master Electrician and assist in installing a comprehensive range of power generation and electrical equipment as specified by each job and according to the blueprints. Apprentices play a significant role in meeting job goals and are encouraged to pursue education to further their knowledge and develop additional skills. Because the electrical contracting and construction industry is occasionally dependent upon uncontrollable economic factors, helpers may be assigned to projects or tasks in other departments as needed.

The responsibilities of the Helper include but are not limited to:

1. Arrive at the job site on time and leave at the end of the designated work day.

2. Follow company policies as outlined in the employee handbook and through performance and appearance reflect positively on your profession and the company.

3. Follow instructions of the job site supervisor.

4. Perform all work correctly and accurately demonstrating conscientious, superior workmanship according to TPC standards.

5. Perform work according to current codes.

6. Adhere to all safety regulations and policies.

7. Work as part of the team to meet man hour goals for each job.

8. Communicate appropriately with supervisor regarding job issues, requests for sick or vacation leave or other job related matters.

9. Participate in formal and informal training opportunities when available or required to perform job duties proficiently.

10. Participate in any required meetings.

11. Assist with jobs or tasks within the company as necessary to adjust for work flow changes.

Apprentices work directly with a lead installer or master electrician on a day to day basis. However, because he/she may work with multiple leads during the course of a year, supervision is shared with the Installation Director and the Installation Project Manager who will oversee performance, skill development, goal setting and training.

Education and Training – Vocational training in electrical installation desired.

Experience – While desired, no formal experience necessary.

Additional Skills or Requirements – Valid Virginia Driver’s License required along with an acceptable driving record as defined by our insurer.
